Capacitive Interfaces For
نویسنده
چکیده
Surface micromachining has become an established technology for inertial sensing. Compatibility with standard IC fabrication processes enables monolithic integration of the sensing element and interface electronics for reduced size and power dissipation, simplified packaging, and increased functionality. The need to resolve sub-Angstrom displacements poses a challenge on the interface. Capacitive pickups are attractive since they do not require special processing and because of their dual function as sensor and electrostatic actuator. The principles and practical considerations for capacitive sensor interfaces are discussed along with circuit examples including a precision sensor with a 3x10m/rt-Hz position measurement noise floor.

Comparison of Two Low-Power Electronic Interfaces for Capacitive Mems Sensors
The paper discusses the importance and the issues of interfacing capacitive sensors. Two architectures applicable for interfacing capacitive sensors are presented. The first solution was designed to interface a capacitive humidity sensor designed and built for a humiditydependent monolithic capacitor developed at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The second case presents the poss...
متن کاملTouchKeys: Capacitive Multi-Touch Sensing on a Physical Keyboard
Capacitive touch sensing is increasingly used in musical controllers, particularly those based on multi-touch screen interfaces. However, in contrast to the venerable piano-style keyboard, touch screen controllers lack the tactile feedback many performers find crucial. This paper presents an augmentation system for acoustic and electronic keyboards in which multi-touch capacitive sensors are ad...
متن کاملPENny: An Extremely Low-Cost Pressure-Sensitive Stylus for Existing Capacitive Touchscreens
By building a wired passive stylus we have added pressure sensitivity to existing capacitive touch screen devices for less than $10 in materials, about 1/10th the cost of existing solutions. The stylus makes use of the built-in audio interface that is available on most smartphones and tablets on the market today. Limitations of the device include the physical constraint of wires, the occupation...
